There’s a huge farmers market coming to Kilkenny next month

The market will run every Sunday until the end of September

A weekend break to any European city is a fail-safe way to remind us of the notable lack of markets in Ireland. Cork's English Market holds down the fort in the south and we've seen markets come and go in Dublin, along with campaigns to have some of the city's most iconic market spaces restored. But, there's definitely a hunger for more and we'll always welcome the news of a new one with open, tote bag-wielding arms. So naturally, we're delighted to hear about the return of Mountain View, a family-run farmers market set amongst the rolling hills of the Kilkenny countryside. Set on 120 acres alongside an award-winning wedding venue and glamping village, the 75-stall market will bring with it an eclectic mix of food, crafts and clothing, ideal for a lazy Sunday afternoon of browsing. It began as a "lockdown project" by the O’Neill family, the third generation owners of Mountain View. Mountain View Market is the South East’s largest and fastest growing weekly farmers market and upon its return will support hundreds of small business owners from across Ireland.

You can expect stalls serving everything from bao buns, bubble teas and sushi to award winning bakeries and vegan ‘junk’ food.

In addition to the weekly food and craft market, Mountain View also hosts specialty markets such as vintage clothing fairs, pop up art galleries and potters markets.

Businesses with stalls at the market include Belfast based artisan cheesemongers ‘Tom & Ollie’ and Laois’s dessert specialists ‘Iris & Milk Bakery’.

Dublin’s ‘Pinchos’ and their tasty Venezuelan style pulled pork sandwiches and lots of other street food stalls will be there.

Mountain View Market returns on Sunday April 2nd, and will run from 10am until 4pm every Sunday until the end of September.

Mountain View is located in Ballyhale, about a 25 minute drive from Kilkenny City.
