Everyone is making the same cruel joke about the Prime Minister’s husband

With visibility comes added attention, and with added attention comes the pisstaking.

Theresa May is the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. She replaced now plain old David Cameron MP on Wednesday, and so became only the second woman to hold the highest political office in the land. Of course that also means that Samantha Cameron has now been replaced by Philip May as the PM's other half...although we doubt that the likes of the Daily Mail will pay quite as much attention to his 'figure-hugging outfits' or 'must-have shoes'. He may have been a largely anonymous figure a week ago, but Philip will now find himself plastered all over the shop as his famous wife's doting partner. Much like Denis Thatcher before him, he'll get the piss taken out of him even if he never says or does anything remotely interesting. Alas it seems a lot of people have already noticed that he bears a striking similarity to another famous sidekick on his very first day as the PM's partner - Penfold. That's right - a lot of slightly cruel Twitterers have decided that poor Philip's receding hairline, Harry Potter style specs, and overall demeanour make him a real-life doppelgänger for Danger Mouse's loyal companion.
