Dublin Zoo has welcomed nine flamingo chicks and they are too adorable

Dublin Zoo has announced the arrival of their newest furry friends and they are so cute. Nine Chilean flamingo chicks hatched after thirty days in incubation and the tiny animals will join a flock of eighty-six flamingos at the park. The zoo keepers are still waiting on even more eggs to hatch in the next few weeks so watch this space. Speaking about the birth of the nine chicks, Dublin Zoo Keeper Lee Byrne said:

"We are delighted with the arrival of the chicks. They were all hatched within two weeks of each other, so it has been an exciting time at Flamingo Lagoon." "About four days after hatching they left their nest and ventured towards the water."

Chilean flamingos are known for their beautiful pink colour, but when they hatch they are grey. Over a period of two to three years their pink plumage begins to show. As they grow into adults, the birds stand around one metre tall and have a wingspan of 100cm. Interestingly, a flamingos' backward bending knee isn't actually a knee. It's an ankle. The birds are really social and tend to live in colonies of thousands of animals. It seems to be a busy time at Dublin Zoo. Only a couple of weeks ago they welcomed a baby oryx.
