If you’ve been feeling a frosty bite in the air, chances are you’ve started digging out your woolly hats and scarves.
November’s average temperature in the capital has been roughly 8°C, a cold-snap is expected to hit the country next weekend.
Now the official Christmas snow-show betting has begun – and we could be likely to see a few snowflakes flutter by our windows in time for the festive season.
Ladbrokes have just unveiled their first odds for a white Christmas, asking for a little help from the weatherman in predicting the official countdown to the season’s snow schedule.
A complete white-out is unlikely to hit Ireland, with odds of 33/1 on snowfall falling throughout the 12 days from December 25th to January 5th, but specific areas might still want to dust off their snow-boots.
According to the latest figures, Dublin, Knock and Shannon face odds of 4/1 for a White Christmas, while those in Belfast face slightly shorter odds at 7/2.

Hayley O’Connor of Ladbrokes said:
“A big frost this weekend could see us jingling shorter odds on a white Christmas, but it always takes the first cold snap to kick start the betting, which is a festive favourite with the punters.”
Forget a white Christmas… We’re already dreamin’ of those hot toddies.
