Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump had a terrible run at the recent caucus in the state of Iowa yesterday.

The caucus is an electoral event in America which has been known to predict the next Republican and Democrat candidates with very high accuracy. Voters gather in the different counties of Iowa and cast their votes from the list of nominees for both parties.

Trump had been favoured to win the Republican caucus which took place on Monday, but in fact he only just scraped into second place according to The Independent.

Relative newcomer Senator Ted Cruz pipped Trump to the post, causing many people to question the business mogul’s political ability and reliance on his celebrity status.

On the Democratic side, Hillary Clinton has declared victory over rival Bernie Sanders, although she admitted it would be a close campaign. According to CNN, Sanders is happy with the pace of his campaign, and still sees himself in with a strong chance of securing the Democrat nomination.
