Bryan Murray made his diagnosis public in 2022
The partner of Bryan Murray has opened up about his Alzeihmer’s diagnosis in a heartbreaking interview.
Actress Una Crawford O’Brien said things have progressed “quite rapidly” for the actor.
The Fair City actor confirmed he had Alzeihmer’s in 2022, but things have worsened in the two years since he broke the harrowing news.
In a new interview, Una confirmed that she is more stressed than before, but said Bryan is “fine”.
She told Brendan Courtney on RTÉ Radio 1:
“Things have progressed quite rapidly in the last two years since we first spoke [about Bryan’s diagnoses]. It has become more difficult, without a doubt. Bryan is fine. He always says he’s great.”
She added, “But a problem with Alzheimer’s is that it affects the memory and Bryan forgets that he has Alzheimer’s.”
Una reflected on how her life has changed since Bryan’s diagnosis with the actress admitting it has been incredibly tough for her.
“I’m more stressed than I was. When you’re living with and talking with people who have dementia and Alzheimer’s, it can be very stressful.
“Even with support, it is the nitty gritty, the difficult part of life. Bryan loves going away on holiday, but when he gets there, he wants to come home again.”
She is receiving more support than ever before, but the actress said it is so important to ask for help if you’re going through this.
“You need it; you can’t do it alone,” she stressed.
September is World Alzheimer’s Month.
