A man has died and another hospitalised following a serious workplace incident in Portmarnock this afternoon.
It’s understood that the two men were working for drain-clearing firm Draintech when they were overcome by fumes in a sewer close to the Co Dublin village.
According to The Irish Times, several firefighters who attended the scene were also taken the hospital as a result of fumes on site.
The Health and Safety Authority has confirmed that it will be carrying out an investigation into the fatalities.
