At least eighteen people have been killed in Paris this evening after shootings and explosions close to where the Charlie Hebdo attack happened earlier this year.
Police and emergency services are at the scene after reports that a Kalashnikov-wielding gunman is on the rampage in the French capital.
According to the Irish Mirror, gunfire was heard in a restaurant close to Rue Bichat shortly after 9pm on Friday (13th November).
Minutes later, more shots were fired near Place de la Republique, walking distance from the restaurant.
On officer on the scene reportedly warned: “the gunman is suspected to be still on the loose. People should leave the area.”
It’s reported that the French president Francois Holland has been evacuated from Stade de France in Saint-Denis, in the suburbs of Paris, following several explosions near the stadium.
It is not yet known whether the two incidents are linked.
