A number of homes in a Cavan housing estate have been evacuated this evening, following the discovery of a suspicious device.
The device was found in the rear garden of a house in the Lakeview Estate in Cavan Town just before 6pm.
Gardaí were notified and are currently at the scene, awaiting assistance from the Army Bomb Disposal Unit.
According to Northernsound.ie, Gardaí anticipate that residents will remain out of their homes until 11pm tonight.
The Army EOD unit is on its way.
