Breaking: Body found in search for missing Nóra Quoirin

A body has been recovered in the search for missing schoolgirl Nóra Quoirin, Malaysian police have confirmed.

The body was found 2km away from the Malaysian resort where she was staying with her family, according to authorities. Authorities haven't confirmed the identity but say that the body is white and female. Investigations into the person's identity are ongoing. The Lucie Blackman Trust, which is handling media enquiries for the Quoirin family, has said that it seems "likely" that the body is that of the Franco-Irish teen.

15-year-old Nóra, who has learning and developmental disabilities, was reported missing on 4 August. She was staying with her family at a cottage at the Dusun rainforest resort to the south-east of Kuala Lumpur. Her French father Sebastian, Belfast-born mother Meabh and two younger siblings had arrived the previous day for a two-week holiday. Sebastian discovered that she was in not in her bedroom at around 8am and a large-scale manhunt was immediately launched. Over 350 people as well as a helicopter, drones and sniffer dogs have been combing the area around the resort for the past ten days. It was announced yesterday that a cash reward of over €10,000 was being offered for information leading to Nóra's return. In a statement, the Quoirin family said their hearts were breaking.

"Nóra is our first child. She has been vulnerable since the day she was born. She is so precious to us and our hearts are breaking," they said. "We are appealing to anyone who has information about Nora to help us find her.”

Two separate GoFundMe campaigns to help with the family's costs have amassed donations of over €120,000.   This is a developing story.
