The young boy died in a road accident in Mullingar on Easter Monday
A four-year-old boy who died in a road accident in Mullingar celebrated his birthday just days before the incident.
Abdur Rehman had celebrated his birthday on Saturday, April 19th.
The boy died after he was struck by a car in Farranshock Estate, Mullingar.
It is believed the accident happened just yards from his family home.
He was treated at the scene of the accident, but was then transported to Mullingar Hospital.
He was sadly pronounced dead at the hospital.
A family friend told RTÉ that the young boy hadn’t even opened all of his birthday presents.
They shared: “They were keeping some for him so he could open one every day.”
“The family just moved here a few months ago. We helped them move. They are a hardworking family, same as everyone here. It’s so sad for everyone.”
His parents had welcomed a baby in the weeks before his untimely passing.
Gardaí are urging witnesses to come forward following this harrowing incident.
