A body has been found in the search for Channel 4 star, Katherine Watson.
Watson was last seen in the Heaton Road area of Newcastle at 1pm yesterday with Northumbria Police growing 'increasingly concerned' for her welfare.
After extensive searches, a body was found. While formal identification is yet to take place, they believe the body to be Watson's.
The force said: "Her next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by specially-trained officers.
"This is an incredibly sad outcome and our thoughts are with Katherine's loved ones at this difficult time. We will continue to support them in any way we can and we ask that their privacy is respected."
Watson, who joined the army in her late teens, featured on the Channel 4 show, Geordie Hospital, which focused on her work as a chaplain.
The six part series filmed hospital staff through a shift, with a cast including porters, surgeons, dental nurses, and chaplains.
A retired doctor who worked with her at the hospital said on social media: "For many of us at Newcastle Hospitals she was our rock during the worst parts of the Covid pandemic."
Another person wrote that she was the 'most wonderful' person they had a 'pleasure of knowing'.
