It’s a serious perk of the job here at Her.ie towers that we get to try and test some of the latest and greatest beauty releases and call it work. Lucky us. Here is a heads up on three products that got a communal thumbs up from the team in the week that was…

imPRESS Press-On Manicure, RRP €7.99, Broadway Nails
If you love wearing false nails, but hate the havoc they wreak on your own talons, then step this way. Honest confession: a few packets of these landed on our desk and NO ONE in the office opted for them. As my nails are weak and brittle, I figured I had nothing to lose and I’d give them a go. Four packets later, and I’m officially hooked. There is no glue involved, a simple peel off tab that exposes a sticky back on the nail. Choose the correct size and prep your nail correctly with the orange stick and pad, and you’ll have a perfect base for your falsie, ensuring it lasts longer. I’m averaging a week’s wear out of each application, and they look like gel nails. My absolute favourite is the sugary pink ‘High Hopes’, but the patterned versions went down very well at Electric Picnic so I’m going a bit bolder for occasion and event wear. The best thing about these beauties, though, is that they have done zero damage to my own nails, and in fact mine have grown longer and stronger underneath. Hooked.

Wild Rose Beauty Balm, RRP €48.40, Neal’s Yard Remedies
If you’re one of the many people who look rave about beauty one-for-all buys like Trilogy’s Everything Balm or Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream, you’ll love this. This multi award-winning, all-purpose beauty balm is a treat for the senses, with that timeless wild rose scent. It’s quite pretty too; the pot has that vintage look that suggests this is a product that might once have sat on your granny’s vanity table. Looks aside though, this balm packs a beauty punch worth noting. The key ingredients include jojoba seed oil to soften and moisturise skin, rosehip seed oil to reduce redness and improve skin elasticity, shea butter for intense moisture and skin protection from the environment, and palmarosa essential oil, which is full of antioxidants. The balm can be used as a cleanser, a mask or a moisturising balm, and comes with its own muslin cloth. The product is also certified 99% organic, so you’re getting the best nature has to offer.

The super chic French beauty brand continually bring our products that smell divine as well as doing their beauty job, and the Fleur d’Osmanthus range is no exception. Inspired by a Chinese Garden of Eden, this uplifting scent has notes of floral, citrus and wood that help to chase the winter blues away. The range is priced from €6 for a travel soap up to €39.75 for the 100ml fragrant water, but it’s actually the beauty oil (€26 for 100ml) that is our pick of the bunch.
