A search vessel has discovered human remains at the underwater crash site of EgyptAir flight MS804.

EgyptAir Flight 804 was a scheduled international passenger flight from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport to Cairo International Airport which crashed into the Mediterranean Sea on 19th May this year.

The remains were recovered by the vessel belonging to the Mauritius-based Deep Ocean Search. The Egyptian government were contacted. The remains will be taken to Alexandria port to be examined by coroners and officials.

A statement by the Egyptian Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee said that the search vessel “retrieved all the human remains that were mapped at the crash location”.

All 66 passengers and crew were killed in the crash. What caused the tragedy remains unknown. Analysis of the plane’s black boxes continues. Officials suspect the cause of the crash lies in the plane’s technical systems.

According to Sky News, the Paris prosecutor’s office opened a manslaughter investigation on Monday but said it was not looking into terrorism as a possible cause of the crash at this stage.

Recently discovered audio revealed the last conversation the pilot had with controllers was calm.

As the crew flew over Zurich, the pilots checked in with air traffic controllers in Athens. They shared jokes before the pilot uttered his final words to controllers: “Good night.”

Shortly after the recorded interaction, EgyptAir Flight 804 crashed into the Mediterranean, resulting in 66 fatalities.

Pilot Mohamed Said Ali Ali Shoukair is heard on the recording making contact with controllers in Athens.

The controller can be heard saying:

“EgyptAir 804, contact Padova 1-2-0, decimal 7-2-5, good night.”

Shoukair responds with:

“This is 0-7-2-5 Padova control. (Unintelligible) 8-0-4. Thank you so much. Good day, er, good night.”
