The army bomb disposal unit has sealed off a site in Dundalk this afternoon.
It’s believed that the unit were called to Raskeagh last night and gardaí have seized two firearms in their search of lands in the area.
According to the Irish Times, the search is part of an investigation into dissident republican activity and is expected to continue for the rest of the day.
No further details about the activity of the bomb disposal unit have been revealed but AA Roadwatch has warned that the local road from Marmions Cross to Raskeagh has been closed until further notice, with diversions in place.
