An Irishman has been found dead in a holiday apartment in Turkey

Police are launching a murder enquiry.

An Irishman was found dead on Friday afternoon in the popular holiday resort of Bodrum in Turkey.

According to The Irish Times, the man in his 60s was found in his apartment at approximately 2pm on Friday.

He was in his 60s, and was found with a stab wound after arriving in Bodrum almost three weeks ago.

His body had been taken to a forensic facility in Mugla, and police are investigating his death.

Local reports say the alarm was raised when neighbours noticed a bloodied knife outside the as yet unnamed victim’s apartment.

Bodrum is a popular holiday resort, located on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey.

The Department of Foreign Affairs is providing consular assistance.
