Awfully sad.
A person has died following a snorkelling excursion off the south-east coast.
According to RTE News, two people were snorkelling near Ardmore in Waterford yesterday evening when one of them got into difficulty.
The other person made it back to shore before alerting the emergency services.
The Coast Guard Rescue attended the scene and airlifted the person out of the water. CPR was carried out when on the way to the Waterford University Hospital but they were later pronounced dead.
