A 6.4 Magnitude Earthquake Has Struck Taiwan

A 6.4 magnitude earthquake has struck Taiwan, with government officials confirming a series of buildings have collapsed. The initial earthquake was then followed by two aftershock tremors. Local media has reported that a number of buildings have collapsed, including a residential block – although there are no casualties yet known. Tainan City Government official Liu Shih-chung confirmed the fire brigade services are now en route to the site. The quake, initially reported as a magnitude 6.7, was centered southeast of Tainan. Images of the impact are now appearing online, showing buildings in several states of collapse following the disaster:
