A 20-Year-Old Irish Man Has Died Following Fall In Tanzania

An Irish man has died following a tragic accident in Africa. The 20-year-old from Dublin is understood to have fallen in Tanzania on Saturday. Govan Jolliffe-Byrne studied at Maynooth University and has been described by his local GAA club as a “true legend”. “Govan Byrne a true legend, always the soul of the party and everyone’s friend, you will never be forgotten,” the tweet from Portmarnock GAA read.

He had been backpacking around East Africa for the last three months. A spokesman for the Department of Foreign Affairs has stated that consular assistance is being provided to his family.
