The shootings happened just hours after 20 people were killed in Texas.
Nine people have been killed after a gunman opened fire in a bar in the city of Dayton, Ohio.
The shooter is also deceased and at least 16 other people were hospitalised after sustaining injuries.
The shooting took place in Dayton’s Oregon District, a collection of bars, restaurants and local businesses in the city’s downtown.
The incident occurred shortly after 1am local time when police said that they were investigating “an active shooter incident” in the area.
Police were called to Ned Peppers, a bar on East Fifth Street in the Oregon District of the city, at around 1.20am. Police said that they had officers in the immediate vicinity when the shooting began and that they were able to swiftly respond.
The FBI is also assisting with this investigation.
The incident comes just hours after 20 people were killed at a mass shooting in El Paso, Texas.
