16-year-old Swedish girl nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

Swedish climate change activist, Greta Thunberg, has just been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize.

The teenager has been protesting across the globe to bring attention to the current climate change crisis. Many others, including students in Ireland, have joined Thunberg's crusade by striking every Friday. The 16-year-old was nominated by three Norwegian lawmakers for her work on challenging governments across the world on their lack of action against climate change. Greta has made speeches at several platforms including the EESC and the United Nations. Thunberg said she was grateful and honoured to have been nominated while sharing the news on her Facebook page. Many of Greta's fans rushed to congratulate her on the news and let the teenage know just how thankful they are for all of her hard work;

"Well deserved nomination. We as parents need to make the steps that will pivot our way of thinking. Small contributions multiplied by awareness will bring reality to hope and credence to faith. "You represent the voice of my children and their children."

In the meantime, Thunberg and her supporters will continue on with their school strikes until more of her environmental actions are taken on board by the world's leaders.
