If you like spinach or want to eat your dinner without feeling ill, it’s probably best to give this one a miss…
A woman in the UK apparently discovered the severed head of a rat in a bag of frozen spinach, bought in Asda.
According to the Telegraph Terri Powis (33) from Buckinghamshire made the discovery while defrosting the spinach in a steamer.
The rat’s head emerged from a clump of leaves while she was preparing dinner for her 60-year-old mother back in January.
She told the publication: “I was poking around with it because I didn’t know what it was. I was gobsmacked when I realised what it was – it was horrible.
“It was very fresh and really pink. It was a bit squashed but intact and must have been frozen soon after being severed.”
Powis lodged a complaint with Asda and subsequently received an apology.
A spokesperson for the supermarket said: “We’d like to apologise for any upset caused to Ms Powis, and we will work closely with the local authorities whilst they conduct their investigation.”
