Beauty pageants are a breeding ground for awky mo-mos.

Whether it’s a contestant falling over her heels, a wardrobe malfunction or a ropey answer, you can pretty much guarantee things won’t run completely smoothly.

However, this Miss Universe gaffe, courtesy of host Steve Harvey, is possibly the most jaw-dropping we’ve even seen.

The anchor of the Miss Universe pageant, did the unthinkable – called out the wrong winner.

Harvey mistakenly announced that Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez Arévalo, had won what was the first pageant since the controversy surrounding its then-owner Donald Trump’s comments about immigrants.

Miss Phillipines, Filipino- German actress Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach was initally announced as runner-up.

However, mere moments later, Harvey took to the mic and said: “I have to apologise.

“The first runner up is Colombia.

“Miss Universe 2015 is Phillipines.”

An actual de-crowning ensued whereby Miss Colombia was forced to hand over her title while crowds could be heard both booing and cheering.

Harvey later took to Twitter to apologise for the mistake, writing: “I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia and Miss Philippines for my huge mistake.  “I feel terrible.”

“I feel terrible.”

Miss Phillipines however took the incident in her stride, saying backstage: “It’s a very non-traditional crowning moment.

“It is very 2015.”

Yikes, we bet Olly Murs is glad someone took the heat off him in style.
