Researchers then showed each fundraiser’s page to four people, who rated the attractiveness of the profile on a scale of one to 10. The team then examined each page before and after each donation.
The authors of the study published in Current Biology, found that men donated significantly more to women who were rated more attractive. The findings also revealed that male donations that were seen as ‘generous’ (above £75) by one man, were four times more likely to generate competing large sum donations to the fundraising page too.
