Budding photographers! If this doesn’t inspire you to whip out your camera and get snapping, we don’t know what will.
So, you most likely heard all about the Huawei Creatives Photography Competition that kicked off in May.
Huawei, being a global tech leader (and let’s be honest, manufacturers of some of the greatest smartphone cameras in existence) makes them well cut out to encourage creativity and photography talent across Ireland.
The Huawei Creatives Competition aims to take the lead in championing the very best of Irish innovation and we’re delighted to say this year’s entries showcased remarkable pieces of work!
Zena Ross, Huawei Ireland’s Head of Marketing and Retail, was pleased to report on a successful campaign again in 2019. Zena said, ‘With more than 11,000 entries and almost 66,000 votes cast this year, Huawei Creatives has once again showcased and championed the creativity and passion of the Irish.’
The competition categories included Ireland, Travel, Dublin, Pets, People, Portrait, Food, Fashion, Music, Abstract, Macro, Community, Monochrome, Action, Water, Architecture, Nature, Night, Street and Cityscapes — plenty of room for boundless amounts of creativity.
Take a peek at the winners of each category below and we promise you’ll be inspired.
First though, a BIG congratulations to the overall winner of 2019s Huawei Creatives Photography Competition — Peter O’Doherty from Cabra, Dublin!
From the days creating shots of family, street portraits, music and sports — the sports videographer has built up quite the portfolio showcasing his superb talent and skilled eye in developing his skills for producing the most incredible images.
Peter’s particular interest in capturing people’s character and emotions during life’s everyday moments has helped win him an incredible prize. Just look…
As well as receiving Huawei’s superb flagship device — the P30 Pro — Peter’s prize includes an opportunity to seek out and test extraordinary new photography experiences while enjoying an incredible trip to a destination of his choice, along with flights and accommodation for two. (THE DREAM!)
Speaking about how he captured the winning shot, he said;
“People are what I love to photograph most. I saw these guys from a bus while on my way to Bull Island. I went straight over to them when I got off, to ask if I could take a couple of shots.
“They soon forgot I was there and as I began to walk off, I noticed them forming a line. I noticed the reflection in the water and click.
“I’m delighted that this shot won because it really represents my work and what I like to shoot most.”
With his photography taking off and the accolade of the 2019 Creatives winner under his belt, Peter hopes to exhibit some of his work later in the year, so keep your eyes peeled everyone.
Until then, have a gawk at these exceptional pieces of work by Irish talents.
