Bud Caldwell is an old-time romantic.
The 82-year old spent nearly 56 years with his wife, and after she passed, he decided to dedicate his life to preserving the memory of their love.
The elderly gentleman bought a bench in his wife Betty’s honour, and since her passing, he visits the Wisconsin park every day to leave a daisy and a penny to remember their two favourite songs – ‘Pennies from Heaven’ and ‘Daist A Day’.
Bud credits the daily habit for helping him stay close to Betty, sitting on the bench to tell his wife about his day.
But when snow hit the Lakeside Park, Bud had to settle for staying in his car.

Two local employees noticed Bud hadn’t turned up that day, and realised they needed to help the pensioner make it back to his wife.
Shovelling the snow to make a path for him, Bud said he was touched by the gesture.
Speaking to CBS, Bud said:
‘Two young men did such a nice thing for one old man.’
Employees Jerrod Ebert and Kevin Schultz said they would continue shovelling his path throughout the snowy weather:
“We have to make sure he can get to his bench and talk to his wife.”
