There’s nothing better than going on holidays.
Whether it’s a two week stint, or a weekend break, half the fun is getting to the airport to soak up the atmosphere before setting out for your next adventure.
Unfortunately not all airports are created equally.
From overcrowding, to bad Wi-Fi, rude staff to limited snack options, the 10 worst airports in Europe have been named.
The survey, conducted by sleepinginairports.net, ranked more than 20,000 responses based on overall airport experiences… and people were not happy.
Here are the 10 worst airports in Europe for travellers’ experience:
1. Beauvais-Tille International Airport, France (BVA)
Voters named the French airport the worst in Europe for its absence of chairs, kind staff, toilets, long queues and poor hygienic standards.
2. Santorini Thira National Airport, Greece (JTR)
Again a lack of chairs and hygiene standards left this airport in second place for the worst airport in Europe. Some travellers also commented on a lack of food options.
3. Rhodes International Airport, Greece (RHO)
Summing up the voters’ reasons for awarding the Greek airport third place, respondents said:
“From check-in to security to duty-free shopping, passengers report finding queues and under-staffing problems quite literally everywhere. There are also a number of washroom-related complaints. Chief among them being the absence of toilet seats, toilet paper, soap and towels.”
Meanwhile, following the top three airports, the remainder of the top 10 airports earned their spot for insufficient chairs, long queues and a lack of wi-fi.
4. Crete Heraklion International Airport, Greece (HER)
5. Berlin Schönefeld International Airport, Germany (SXF)
6. Corfu International Airport, Greece (CFU)
7. Rome Ciampino International Airport, Italy (CIA)
8. Brussels Charleroi International Airport, Belgium (CRL)
9. Bergamo Orio al Serio International Airport, Italy (BGY)
10. London Luton International Airport, England (LTN)
