To be honest, we’re absolutely sick of hearing the words ‘Fifty Shades’ and it seemed all anyone could talk about last summer was Miss Anastasia Steele.
However a new raunchy novel has taken the Kindle world by storm knocking the most talked about book of the year off the top spot on Amazon.
Thursdays in The Park, by author Hilary Boyd, tells the story of a sex deprived granny who meets the man of her deepest desires while minding her grandchildren in the park.
Ms Boyd, a grandmother herself, said: “Old people fall-ing in love and having passionate relationships is not a story that’s had much exposure before, but I’m in no doubt the market’s out there.”
The novel has outsold Fifty Shades of Gray on Amazon
Speaking about Fifty Shades, the author revealed she has no idea how it has done so well.
“I’ve no idea at all who’s buying it. Not a clue. All I can say is that sex in the park beats sex in the basement.”
The pension porn only sold a thousand copies when it was first published but Thursdays in The Park has sky-rocketed as more and more women are indulging in erotic novels.
The Daily Telegraph has described the ‘gran-lit’ as Kama Sutra meets Antique Roadshow.
Eh, we think we’ll leave this one off the Christmas list.
