Psychologist Mark Allen Thornton found the word was proven as the fastest way to get someone hot under the collar, although we’re not sure we’d be particularly turned on by the phrase. According to Thornton’s findings, the word was the most frequently used in passages found to be most exciting by readers, which also happened to be written by men in two thirds of the cases. While we’re not sure it’s up there with 50 Shades, the London psychologist also found that younger women were more interested in celebrity fantasies and group sex stories.
