So this 1960s Sex-Ed book is ridiculously graphic

Well, this is graphic.

Cathy Donohue

The ‘birds and the bees’ chat is beyond awkward for all involved which is why a book might prove an easier option.

How Babies Are Made, penned by Andrew C . Andry and Stephen Scheppwas published in 1968 and let’s just say, the images are very detailed.

Buzzfeed brought it to our attention and much like How A Baby Is Made, it’s a very different way to approach sex education.

It starts off with animals and their expressions need to be seen to be believed from the happy giraffes to the startled chickens.

animals

This is where things start to get explicit and by the time we got to the page featuring the dogs, we didn’t know where to look.

Next comes people and the images are pretty graphic (see below), there’s no going back from these.

Of course, there are detailed explanations to accompany the image with one sentence reading: “unlike humans and animals, when human mothers and fathers create a new baby, they are sharing a very personal and special relationship”.

After this, there’s the childbirth story which again includes some rather graphic pictures and need very little translation.

We can’t unsee these pictures.
