Conventional wisdom tells you never to go shopping on an empty stomach, but that might be about to change thanks to a new initiative from Tesco.
The supermarket has introduced a “try before you buy” trial, designed to entice shoppers to try the chain’s own-brand foods.
According to The Grocer, shoppers will be invited to taste any branded Tesco to-go product before deciding on a purchase.
The trial has been launched in six stores with a further rollout on the cards if the initiative is deemed a success.
The range of foods include sandwiches, crisps, cakes and fresh fruit.
A spokesperson for the brand told The Grocer: “We are really proud of our products and we want to make it easier for customers to purchase them with confidence, so we are trialling a ‘try before you buy’ scheme in a limited number of stores.
“We will be listening to customer feedback throughout the trial.”
