Spending Hours on the Computer and Changes in the Bedroom? Could Be a Porn Addiction

Many people joke about it and singer Will Young recently admitted that he experienced it. But could you tell if you or your beau was addicted to porn?

Guys watch it all the time without so much as a second thought. And girls also watch it although they might not be so open about it. But watching porn can turn out to be a serious problem. In fact it can turn into an addiction.

It’s an issue that a lot of people don’t take seriously, because it is so widely discussed and accepted, but porn addiction is a real problem and can have very damaging effects on the individual and those around them.

Like any addiction, it can be tricky to identify when watching porn is a hobby and when it’s a real problem. But as with every addiction, there are some symptoms that can help you to identify if you or your partner is addicted to porn…

1. They use the computer more

The most notable change in someone’s behaviour is that they are spending longer on the computer. So you might not catch them in the act but if they are spending elongated periods of time on the keyboard or become annoyed when they are interrupted, it could be more serious than a Facebook stalking session.

2. They aren’t the same sexually

It’s not just the living room that you might notice a change in someone’s behaviour. Things can change in the bedroom too, especially in relation to sexual behaviour and practices. This can range from no sexual appetite to a more aggressive sexual desire to the use of strip clubs. You might also notice a sexual distance creep into your encounters.

3. They are showing physical signs

As well as signs of tiredness, you might notice that the person has gained or lost weight from their addiction due to a more erratic eating routine. They might not sleep as well as they used to and could have difficulty with concentration in both their personal and professional lives.

4. They are not as social anymore

Someone who has developed an addiction to porn can become somewhat introverted. They can avoid social occasions and neglect their friends and family. Lying and skipping plans isn’t uncommon, as with most other addictions. Sometimes, they can turn on themselves and others with critical comments about how they look and behave.

5. They have serious mood swings

More often than not, porn addiction is linked to another issue which can be to do with the person’s emotional state. Feeling inadequate or unfulfilled can lead to porn and other addictions. It can also be a coping strategy for some. People who are addicted to porn also feel guilty about it so keep an eye out for signs of this including denial and anger.

Like the other types, porn addiction can and should be treated as soon as possible. If you are concerned about you or your partner, it is best to consult your doctor.
