Pattaramon Chanbua, the Thai surrogate taking care of a baby boy who was abandoned by his biological parents, has said that she would be happy to take his twin sister back.

The 21-year-old has been bringing up Gammy, who has Down’s syndrome and a congenital heart condition, since he was born and has now spoken out about his twin sister after Australia’s Nine Network reported that the father is a convicted sex offender.

“Personally, when I heard the news I was shocked but I can’t say anything much right now”, she explained before adding that she is leaving the fate of the child up to the law.

However Pattaramon did admit that she has an emotional attachment to the baby girl who was taken back to Australia by her parents.

“I want her back because she is my baby. She was in my womb… If she is happy, then I, as a mother, am also happy… But if she really cannot go on living there, then I’m very happy to have her back in my arms”.

The surrogate, who claims that she did not receive the full payment she was promised for carrying the children, also said she will never hand back Gammy.

The unnamed parents of the twins have not commented publicly about the matter but ABC reported that the father has denied abandoning his son in Thailand and claimed that they did not know their daughter had a twin.

It is believed that the process was carried out legally under contract but the events that have since unfolded have caused controversy.
