This year, the aim of the event is to 'turn the globe pink', by challenging participants to complete a joint distance of 40,700 km (that's the circumference of the globe, FYI) over the course of the weekend. To hit this incredible milestone, every little helps, so challenging yourself to walk, jog or run as little as 5 km could make a huge difference.
So, how does it work?

Years later, Patricia is healthy and happy, teaching healthcare at Portlaoise College and spending time with her family. It's thanks to essential education and awareness programmes run by Breast Cancer Ireland that Patricia can share her story, reassuring other Irish women with similar diagnoses.
The money you raise will help Breast Cancer Ireland continue their pioneering research and awareness programmes nationally, which make a huge difference when it comes to sharing stories like Patricia's and spreading awareness of the symptoms of breast cancer, like the ones shown below.
You can register for The Great Pink Run here.
This year The Great Pink Run virtual event takes place across local communities and across the world on the 16th and 17th October, raising funds to support Breast Cancer Ireland’s pioneering research and awareness programmes nationally.
Registrations for the national event are open on www.greatpinkrun.ie. Follow ongoing event updates on Instagram @GreatPinkRun and @BreastCancerIre or on Twitter using the hashtags #GPR2021 or #greatpinkrun
