Pampers to donate thousands of its smallest nappies to premature Irish babies

Pampers are to continue to donate thousands of their smallest nappies to premature Irish babies. Every year, 4,500 babies are born pre-term in Ireland, each needing specialist care during their first few months to support their early development. As sleep is crucial to encouraging the physical and emotional development of premature babies, Pampers are doing their bit and helping them along even more - by donating thousands of incredibly small nappies to the preemie babies who need them. The nappies, available in sizes P1 (<5lb/ 2.7kg) and P2 (<4lb/ 1.8kg) and P3 (<1.8lb/ 0.8kg), are designed to help minimise disruption and avoid disturbance so preemie babies can sleep as long as possible. While sleep is important for any baby, premature babies need to sleep 97 percent of the time to ensure that they develop correctly. And although their sleep can still be interrupted by whatever's happening in the neonatal unit, having a good nappy on them is one less thing likely to disturb a sleeping preemie baby. Pampers are donating the nappies to mark this year's World Prematurity Day, on Sunday November 17. Over the past two years, the brand have donated 40,000 of their small nappies to preemie babies across Ireland - and this year they'll be giving thousands more away too. Fair play. "For more than 60 years, Pampers has been developing products which support the happy healthy development of babies," said Emma Gerrard,  Pampers marketing manager. "Rest and comfort is vital for those born premature and with the launch of our preemie nappy to help accommodate undisturbed sleep, we can now make sure we’re there to help every baby, from day one, including those born early. "We continue to find new ways to innovate our premature nappies to ensure their unique needs are supported.”
