Are you a fan of Dancing On Ice? If so, we have some bad news for you today. According to reports, the realty TV show is on the skids after it got trumped in the ratings last week by Countryfile.
The Sunday Mirror reports that ITV bosses are considering dropping the flagship show because the latest series has had some of the worst viewing figures since the show started back in 2006.
Apparently Dancing On Ice has lost at least half of its viewers since the first series, when 13million people tuned in to watch the programme.
While a spokesperson for ITV said that they were “planning” for the show to return again in 2014, a TV source said that it was unlikely there would be another series.
“There’s been a lot of chatter on set that there will not be a ninth series. The powers that be are unimpressed with viewing figures, especially considering how much it costs to produce… they don’t know what to do,” said the source.
Problems with the show first began to surface last year when ratings hit a record low of just 6.4million viewers. But rather than binning the show, worried bosses invested vast sums of money in an attempt to turn it around.

Even Pamela Anderson couldn't give ratings a boost
The brought back Jason Gardiner as a judge after he quit the show last year and they forked out a massive €190,000 for Pamela Anderson. Unfortunately, Pammy was kicked off in the first episode, meaning she earned an eye-watering €1,200 for every second she spent on the ice.
“To be fair to ITV, they refused to be defeated and ploughed a huge amount of money into this year’s show,” said the source.
“They even had a celebrity romance between Samia Ghadie and Sylvain Longchambon, which usually boosts ratings, but that had no effect,” the source added.
But with falling ratings and a growing lack of interest, it looks as though Dancing On Ice may be calling it quits soon. Would you be heartbroken if it didn’t return for a new series?
