Disneyland may be the happiest place on earth, but a new theme park that has just opened in South Korea is gunning for the title of “strangest” place on earth. Ladies, allow us to introduce you to the Restroom Cultural Park – a theme park dedicated to toilets. Yes, really.
The park is located in Suwon in South Korea and as well as dozens of statues of toilets, it also features a fun historical toilet timeline, facts about going to the bathroom and an art gallery chocked full of toilet-related art. Nice, right?
BBC News reports that the theme park was built in memory of the city’s former mayor Sim Jae-Duck who had the unfortunate nickname of “Mr Toilet.”
Mr Jae-Duck was blessed with the nickname because he spent his life campaigning for better public facilities across South Korea. He was so obsessed with his cause that he even built a toilet-shaped home to live in.

“We just focus on eating every day, we sometimes overlook the importance of the toilet,” said Lee Youn Souk, an employee at the park, speaking about how the cultural importance of toilets should not be overlooked.
“We already know upon waking up in the morning we should go to the toilet but people don’t want to talk about this. [They are] so important for health, sanitation and water conservation,” she added.
The city of Suwon is apparently super-proud of its reputation as “the toilet city” and every year, it hosts a “golden poop art” festival.
Would you ever take your children to a toilet theme park?
