Seán McCarthy, a UCD student from Mullingar, received a rather nice treat after he complained to a phone and internet company on their Facebook page.
He started off by ranting to 48months about their new monthly rate. Among other things he said: “So I hear that ye are raising your monthly price to €15? Ye filthy whores! Ye used to be so sound. Pure sound so ye were… Doncha see yere ruining lives!”
The company responded with a similarly lengthy reply, through one of their employees Kevin, which included an explanation for the price rise: “Put the vodka down and drink this in instead… we don’t go around pilfering people’s pockets just to satisfy some lust for money… Our price only went up to €15 for the €15 membership – the old €10 membership is still alive and well brining much joy and happiness to the lives of the jaded youth of today.”
Before long the two were engaged in a humourous exchange filled with banter about television shows, computer games and Robin Hood.

But it was Seán who was left with a smile on his face when 48months wrote to him saying they had been having such a laugh at his posts that they wanted to give him something: “To Seán McCarthy. Any chance you can PM your email address? We have a little surprise for you.”
And it seems he obliged as he shared a snap of himself and his surprise, a free bottle of vodka, earlier this week on his Facebook page. Well at least we know what to do now if we don't have enough money for our night out!
