Actor Karl Howman is set to join the Eastenders cast.
Karl, who played Jacko in
BBC One comedy
Brush Strokes, will appear on our screens from November.
According to
The Mirror, Karl's character will play a rival to Phil Mitchell's character.
Executive producer Dominic Treadwell-Collins is delighted with the new addition and said: "We have been trying to get the brilliant Karl Howman to join EastEnders for a very long time - and it's fantastic that it's finally happened.
"An authentic Londoner with grit, sparkle and a touch of danger, Karl is the perfect fit for this new character, whose appearance on the Square will open old wounds and reignite old passions".

A spokesperson for the show also said: "Since the moment Karl arrived, it was like he has been here for years. There's a lot in store for his character; he's playing a loveable rogue but there seems to be a lot more to him than meets the eye".
Sixty-year-old Karl, recognised for his role in a number of Flash adverts, said he "has had a lovely welcome to the show".
The twists and turns, character and plots that are coming make it all the more exciting for me" continued Karl.
