Comedian Jimmy Carr has revealed that he didn't lose his virginity until he was 26 years old.
The average age an Irish person loses their virginity is at around 17, but, speaking to Kirsty Young on Desert Island Discs, Carr said he feels he was somewhat repressed as a young adult.
The television host and actor (44) grew up Catholic before losing his faith in what he described as a type of early midlife crisis.
Asked by Young if he thought religion was part of the reason he hadn't met the right person to have a relationship with at a young age, Carr said:
‘I think I was a little bit repressed, I’m a late developer and I’m okay with that.’
Jimmy kindly made sure to reassure any young listeners that it's perfectly normal not to have sex at the same age as your mates.
Hear, hear.
