Mikey Lynch from Cootehill, Co. Cavan has officially melted the hearts of all of us ladies here at Her Towers.
The 85-year-old made headlines this week in the Farmers Journal when they asked if he had just become the oldest man in Ireland to buy a new tractor.
Mikey snapped up a branded new Massey Ferguson 6613 in Martin’s Garage in nearby Baileborough, 65 years after purchasing his first Ferguson back in 1950.
Explaining the purchase Mikey said; “Ah, I’ve always loved Masseys. They’re a great tractor, I never had any problems with mine and I’ve gone back to them every time.
“They’re a right bit taller than they used to be but not much else. They’ve four wheels and a steering wheel. It’s about the man at the wheel.
Mikey works as a ploughing contractor and explained, “I like ploughing. There was a time when I’d be going working at midnight and it felt like it was only the morning and I’d work all night and all day.”
