Sarah Clancy, Ireland’s oldest person, died this morning at the age of 108.
Originally from Connemara, Sarah spent most of her life in America.
According to The Irish Times, Sarah was born on May 2nd, 1908 in Sruthán, An Cheathrú Rua in Connemara.
She travelled to Boston, with her sister Anne, in 1938 and lived there until 1988 when she returned home to Ireland following the death of her sister.
Earlier this month Sarah made headlines for her exceptional age and interesting life.

She worked as a maid and cook during her time in Boston and when she returned to Ireland she helped out with babysitting for the younger generation of her family.
She only retired from those duties when she was 95 years of age and she refused to use a wheelchair up until the age of 107.
What a life!
