Ireland’s Aileen Reid continued to impress this week when she secured seventh place at the Gold Coast World Triathlon Series held over the weekend.
The Olympic triathlete has been making a name for herself on the circuit over the last number of years and her hard work is certainly paying off as she is now in tenth position in the World Rankings.
The third round of this series was raced over the Olympic distance with a 1,500 metre swim, a 40 kilometre cycle and a 10 kilometre run.

The early swim leaders managed to form a mini breakaway on the bike and pushed on to secure an advantage of almost one minute by the end of the second discipline.
The event would see Gwen Jorgenson claim her eighth straight World Series victory, a record which looks set to stand the test of time.

From an Irish perspective, from the main pack Reid was leading the chase, picking off all but four of the early breakaway athletes.
Her 35:07 run split, after a tough swim and bike saw her home in seventh place overall and sees her move up to tenth position in the World Rankings.
