Cathy’s Choice: A Heartfelt Thanks
Cathy says: This week marked Children’s Hospice Week and Kate Middleon released a touching message praising the staff who do so much to help children with life-threatening illnesses. Having witnessed first-hand how hard they work and what a difference this makes, I can only agree with the Duchess. The fact that such a high-profile figure has praised their work can only highlight this good cause.

Rebecca’s Choice: Animal Magic
Rebecca says: This is my favourite story from this week purely because elephants are my favourite animal and I don’t think anything is quite as cute as a baby elephant doing things for the first time. I would like to thank my colleague Liz for putting this piece together and putting a smile on my face!

Sue’s Choice: A Wheel Success Story
Sue says: My favourite story of the week was the story about Frostie the Goat who finally managed to ditch his wheelchair. Frostie was placed in a mini-wheelchair by sanctuary workers due to an infection which prevented the use of his hind legs. However, after a lot of rest and treatment, he has finally ditched the wheelchair and now is wandering around freely! If this video doesn’t make you cry, you really have a heart of stone.

Grace’s Choice: Strength in a Time of Grief
Grace says: This week’s favourite story is a special one for a number of reasons. On June 16th 2013, a dear friend of mine was killed in a hit-and-run accident in New York. Although the death of anyone is tragic, the situation is intensified when such a tragedy happens abroad. Fundraisers were organised to repatriate his body and the incredible Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust began. In 12 months the trust has been used by 30 Irish families to alleviate the financial burden of taking loved ones home from foreign lands. In one year a phenomenal €250,000 has been raised and thanks to continued efforts of folk all over the country, that sum continues to grow. We chatted to Ciara, Kevin’s sister, ahead of his anniversary quiz on Tuesday night. “It is great that Kevin’s name and spirit is living on through the trust,” she explained. “It will never bring him back or ease the pain of losing him but it keeps us busy and it does help us knowing we are helping others.”

Michelle’s Choice: You Know You Do It Too
Michelle says: Tell me you don’t dance around the kitchen, walk about your home in the nip or squeeze your spots, and I’ll never trust you. You liar. We all do it. Which is why I absolutely loved this list of the things you do in private that you’ll never admit to. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to win an imaginary argument and Facebook stalk someone I shouldn’t…

Liz’ Choice: Say Yes To Jesus
Liz says: I’m waiting for the floodgates of abuse to open, but I’m loving the new Destiny’s Child song. Blame the years singling along to The Writing’s On The Wall, but I’ll always be a fan of Bey and the gang. So I was more than a little excited to see the new video for “Say Yes”. Yes it’s different, and they’ve had a bit of a style makeover, but the catchy tune and harmonies are still as good as ever. Or maybe I’m secretly going back to days of singing in the church choir. Either way,the video is playing on repeat.
I’ll let you judge for yourself here.
Marie’s Choice: Just Kidding Around
Marie says: I am a self-confessed news junkie but sometimes, you just want to have a giggle and this video definitely ticks that box! I have now decided that there is nothing cuter than a baby goat throwing itself at a camera. NOTHING.
