The city’s Liberal Democrat party believe the Coca-Cola event should not take place because Liverpool "is in the grip of an obesity epidemic".
According to the Liverpool Echo, Councillor Richard Kemp wrote a letter to the shopping centre which will be hosting the event, and said that children consume too many sugary drinks.
He said: "I believe that the visit by Coca-Cola should not take place. You only have to look around you to see that Liverpool is in the grip of an obesity epidemic - 30 percent of our 11 years olds are obese with about 5 percent being clinically obese.
He continued: "Up to 60 percent of our adults are obese and many of them clinically obese - we must take action to deal with this because the consequences are alarming."
It has not yet been confirmed if the truck will pass through the town, however details on the worldwide event will be revealed mid November.Life
