Have You Always Wanted To See What The World’s Most Expensive Mince Pie Would Look Like? It’s Time To Indulge…

Ahh, Christmas-time... a time for hope, faith, family, friends and, eh, expensive mince pies...

Her

Mmm… Christmas, time to indulge!

Time to crack open the tins of chocolates, slice into a piece of festive cake and, for those with a taste for the finer things, here comes the world’s most expensive mince pie.

The tasty festive treat was created by London Chef Ben Tish and is estimated to be worth an absolute whopping €4,300.

It’s no unlike your normal mince pie, although it’s loaded with mince and generous lashings of quality cognac, as well as some more unusual ingredients.

Instead of fruit mince, the plush ingredients include foie gras for richness and moisture, truffle essence and white truffle, to balance the alcohol.

Ben’s decadent delight contains dried fruit mix that has been soaked in the finest Rémy Martin cognac and PX Sherry and is sealed in a flaky, buttery pastry.

The treat is decorated in 24 carat gold leaf, sprinkled with a generous helping of gold nuggets and is served with brandy cream and a double measure of Louis XIII cognac (which retails at about €500 for a single measure, phew).

“I thought it would be bigger”… Us too.

The mince pie was exclusively made for a charity raffle this weekend.

Creator Ben Tish, executive chef of the Salt Yard Group of restaurants, spoke of his creation: “Mince pies are ubiquitous at Christmas but there’s generally a very low standard of quality.

“I have used truffle in sweet things before to great effect. I thought about using foie gras instead of beef fat as it is richer and more luxurious.

“The gold leaf and the icing sugar give it a great Christmassy look.”
