Happy Birthday Rob Brydon! 15 Of Uncle Bryn’s Best Moments

We have a confession to make: here in the Her.ie offices we’re a tad bit obsessed with the sheer awesomeness that is Gavin and Stacey.

Despite the fact that we’ve seen every single episode a million times, we’ll still happily sit down and watch the repeats whenever we catch them on the telly.

Aside from Gavin and Stacey’s cute love story, there was another reason why we watched the programme and that reason was the comedic genuis of Uncle Bryn. In fact, every time we watched an episode we sort of felt a little bit upset that Bryn wasn’t our uncle in real life. Sad face.

Well today is Uncle Bryn’s birthday! Yes, Rob Brydon, the actor who plays Bryn, turns 47 years old today and to celebrate we’re looking at some of his best moments in Gavin and Stacey.

1. Bryn helps Stacey prep for a job interview: 

Uncle Bryn helped us to realise the seriousness of practicing for a job interview. In this clip he shows us why it’s important to always be prepared for whatever questions they may/may not throw at you. Classic!

2. Bryn invests in a rape alarm:

In a bid to keep Stacey safe while she’s in London, Bryn buys her a rape alarm. He then insists on showing her how it works.

3. Bryn joins Myspace:

In one episode, Bryn joins Myspace and quickly figures out that he can’t cope with the amount of friend requests he has coming in. Poor guy.

4. Bryn loves James Blunt: 

Solely because James Blunt has a “cracking” voice. Enough said.

5. Bryn gets an ipod: 

He’s a cool uncle who loves keeping up to speed with the latest technologies. It doesn’t matter that his music collection is tiny – he’s seeing all his new storage space as a positive thing.

6. Bryn’s night out:

Bryn goes mad and decides to be one of the boys. He orders a pint and gets a little merry, God bless him.

7. Bryn’s surprise party for Gwen:

We have never seen anyone get this excited about surprising someone...

8. Bryn sings “Something Inside So Strong”:
