A girl has been suspended from school for asking her girlfriend to prom

A girl has been suspended from school for asking her girlfriend to prom.

The student attending Alexandra High in Alabama asked her girlfriend to go to prom with her during a school talent show.

Former student, Nick Wyville, has said that the two girls were suspended and will not be allowed to attend the prom.

He wrote a letter to the school’s Superintendent, which he also shared to Facebook.

He said:

“Our school was hosting its annual talent show, and after a girl sang a song, her girlfriend asked her to prom while on the stage.

“Under my impression, the students have been suspended until further notice, as have the hosts of the talent show. I have also been told that the couple will not be allowed to go to prom.

“According to a friend, the principal came over the intercom and apologized to anyone that was “offended” by this display, and said it did not represent the school’s ‘values.'”

Nick added that, a few years ago, the school received criticism for its “religious practices.”

He asked that all “charges” against the students be dropped, and pointed to a previous instance that saw a male student ‘prompose’ to a female student during a talent show.

Neither student was punished in this case.

“The students must be allowed to attend prom together,” Nick continued.

“I have contacted members of the Alabama Human Rights Campaign, the Alabama ACLU, and multiple media outlets, both national and local. If these unjust charges are not dropped against these students, further action will be taken.

“This is a clear violation of the law and it tramples the two young girls’ moral character. I hope you can resolve this incident.”

The school has yet to respond to the incident.
