If you’ve been struggling to keep track of your daily life, notice you’re missing out on some of the finer details or just need to improve your memory, then this is the news you need to hear.
A study from Harvard Medical School has proven that drinking hot chocolate can prevent memory loss and improve cardiovascular health.
Research scientists at the university tested the memory and thinking skills of more than sixty elderly people over the course of a 30-day period. Half of the participants in the study were given two cups of hot chocolate per day with the standard level of the antioxidant flavanol. The other half had a lower flavanol version.
The study found that those with impaired brain blood flow showed improved memory and brain function when they started drinking the cocoa with the higher flavanol content.
The research also supported 42 other trials where 1,200 patients found reduced insulin levels and reduced ‘bad’ cholesterol when they started supping on hot chocolate and snacking on heart disease.
So next time you’re feeling guilty for a nibble, or if you’re not sure if you’ll have the stamina to stay off the creamy goodness, feel free to argue your rights to another chunk of chocolate.
It’s all for the good of your health. Nibble on.
