The first ever female led pub has opened in the UK

Ellen Fitzpatrick

Something we can get behind.

A London pub has become the first ever to be led by an all female team and they’re aiming to create a safe environment for all women in the sector.

The women running the bar are looking to provide a safe training environment for women in hospitality and maintain a safe space for other people to drink at.

Women are being encouraged to apply for their job openings, and they are currently hiring a chef, general manager, bar-back and mixologist at the Flowerhouse pub.

Located in Marylebone, the pub is set to make history and completely shake up the traditionally male dominated industry.

Originally planned to be created by former chief creative officer Jo Jackson, the team brought it to life after their success of a pub in Shoreditch.

While the jobs are open for everyone and anyone to apply, they are encouraging women from all backgrounds to apply in particular.

As well as this, they will be providing apprenticeships and training schemes, with flexible working hours, keeping the busy mum in mind.

Wanting women to feel safe, supported and empowered when out for the night, every single detail and decision at the pub has been made by women.

“Through renovating @flowerhousepub on Chiltern St we wanted to support as many female entrepreneurs as possible [sic]”, they posted on their official Instagram account.

This pub comes just spiking figures have seen a huge rise in the last number of months, particularly in the UK.

Spiking has long been a safety issue for young people, and the reopening of the nightlife sector has led to an influx of reports of such instances and concerns around the protection of women.

The Flowerhouse pub officially opens on November 23rd.
